Viewpoint’s Dual Recovery Center Treatment Program

Dual diagnosis is defined as having a severe mental illness associated with dependence on alcohol, or other substances. Studies have shown that between 25% and 50% of people with one mental disorder have at least one co-occurring mental disorder. There are two subgroups of patients: major substance abuse disorder coupled with another major psychiatric disorder; and abuse of alcohol and/or other drugs in ways that affect the course of treatment of the mental disorder.

Viewpoint’s Dual Recovery Program is designed to meet the needs of people suffering from depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety or panic disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and other affective disorders. This innovative program provides individualized treatment based on the patient’s case history and in-depth evaluations conducted during the Intake process and after admission. Our bio-psycho-social-spiritual approach integrates the full range of treatment options to meet each patient’s specific needs.

Viewpoint continues to provide the foundation for this program, caring for a person’s mind, body, spirit, and emotions. Intensive and ongoing therapeutic work from various approaches helps individuals break through to their own underlying problems. Group therapy that specifically focuses on the issues related to mood and anxiety disorders is highly effective and complements any other previous or current treatment for addictions, eating disorders, or trauma.

Treatment modalities may include:

  • Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
  • Expert medication management
  • Psycho-educational lectures
  • Consultations for grief, loss, spirituality, nutrition, and fitness, as clinically appropriate
  • Other integrated components of Viewpoint’s treatment services, such as Acupuncture, EMDR, Equine, Art Therapy, Massage Therapy, Yoga, Reiki, and Tai Chi
  • Comprehensive Family Program

All patients, including psychiatric and mental health patients, are treated with dignity and respect at Viewpoint. Each person is individually assessed to see if medication is warranted and to achieve the most optimal medication strategy. Emphasis is placed on engaging the patient in the therapeutic process as soon as possible, and each patient’s treatment plan is based on his or her individual needs. Focus on continuing care is critical throughout the patient’s stay to help ensure a smooth transition and a higher likelihood of sustained recovery.

Viewpoint Dual Recovery Center is dedicated to the planning and managing of high-quality programs and services aimed at the prevention, education, and resolution of addictive disorders and behavioral health issues. Special emphasis on the value and worth of the individual is the foundation of our programs.  Viewpoint offers a safe, nurturing environment and is committed to delivering quality patient care with a knowledgeable and progressive staff in a fiscally responsible manner.
